SMA Donation Empowers Local Police Department
SMA’s donation to the Rocklin Police Officers Association will contribute to the construction of the first and only K-9 training facility in Placer County.
The Rocklin Police K9 Program protects the community by helping law enforcement officers with crowd control assignments, tracking projects and child and missing person search efforts. The canine unit also makes regular appearances each year at the local schools and community events to demonstrate how the dogs are trained and how they interact with their handlers.
The Rocklin Police Department would significantly benefit from a local K9 training course and is looking for the funds to make this a reality. The nearest existing facility of this kind open to Rocklin K9 Officers is in Davis, about an hour and a half away.
With help from community members including students from the Leadership Rocklin Class of 2019-2020 and the Rocklin Chamber of Commerce, the Rocklin Police Department is one step closer to its goal.
SMA Sales Support & Operations Manager Stephanie Fellenberg and Project Manager Caden Elvick are part of the leadership class and led SMA’s efforts to support the Rocklin Police Officers Association with a $2,500 donation.
We are pleased to know that this project will not only elevate law enforcement in Rocklin through readily accessible training facilities, but also the surrounding communities as the course will be open to police departments across Placer County.
