Celebrate 20 Years of Solar Technology with SMA America
This year, SMA America celebrates its 20th Anniversary. The German-based solar company has been in business since 1981 and established in the United States for two decades. During those years, SMA has been a pioneer in the industry, providing cutting edge solar technology and top of the line photovoltaic inverters for clients and partners.
Business has been extensive and successful, amounting to impressive milestones while helping usher in a new era of alternative energy. Highlights include a cumulative 13.6 GW of energy produced among Utility (Central), almost 6 GW across Residential & Commercial (String), and 4.5 GW among its O&M portfolio.
Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Charles Ellis, reflects upon the company’s success with an acknowledgement of both climate and culture effect. “We’re very proud of the impact we’ve created in the last 20 years. It’s been a privilege to take part in so many projects and deliver technology that has served both communities and the environment.”
To celebrate their history as solar pioneers, SMA is running a campaign that will honor customers, who have trailblazed solar power. The PV Pioneers contest is geared to recognize those early adopters who helped lead the shift to sustainable energy and celebrate the mutual success between the company and its longtime customer base.
Through December 31, 2020, anyone who has installed an SMA inverter at least 15 years ago and has a PV system still running today is eligible to participate. Entry is simple. Post a photo of yourself and your SMA inverter with any key information on social media using the hashtag #PVPioneers, or email it to SMA (pvpioneers@SMA.de). Photos will be uploaded to a social wall and can be viewed on the SMA website. The 15 most impressive posts will win an exclusive outdoor Solar Explorer Pack.
This campaign is just one expression of SMA America’s commitment to connecting with its customers and maintaining strong relationships in the industry. “We wouldn’t have reached this milestone without the support of our customers and the ways they’ve innovated using our products,” said Ellis.
