Intersolar Europe 2017: Get the Most out of Energy
Reducing energy costs, using storage systems and predominantly the digitization of the energy industry were the hot topics at Intersolar Europe 2017. SMA’s new system solutions and its ennexOS energy management platform offer the right answers to every question. Here is our review of the trade fair.
1,100 exhibitors from 51 countries participated in Intersolar Europe, and it hosted approximately 40,000 visitors – many of were at our booth. We showcased our new products and system solutions under the motto: Be. Free Get the Most Out of Energy. For those who were not able to make it to Munich, we created a video virtual tour.
Our colleague Valerio Natalizia, Managing Director SMA Italia, visited the Intersolar Europe with a group of Italian customers. He summed it up:
“It was a great show with a lot of international customers. Visitors from all over the world were impressed by our innovative solutions in each segment. Most of the visitors were particularly interested in our utility-scale solutions and new energy management solution with integrated storage system.”
A Starburst of Innovations?
Even if, according to a German tweeter, genuine innovations were missing from this year’s trade fair, we have contributed to an innovation in the commercial sector, which can be installed 60% faster and reduces operating costs. As a result, we won the Intersolar Award for our Sunny Tripower Core1.

Trade Fair Trend: Intelligently Networked Producers and Consumers
According to organizers, the trade fair was totally geared towards smart renewable energies.
The energy world is accordingly experiencing a turnaround as a result of digitization. Intelligent networking of energy flows, producers and consumers, plays a key role here. Our response to this change is called ennexOS.
“We held many very exciting discussions about our new energy management platform. The comprehensive approach combining the design, monitoring and control of thermoelectric systems for residential, commercial and utility applications consistently received positive feedback,” said Andreas Strusch, Product Manager at SMA.

Naturally, storage systems play a decisive role in the networking of all energy producers and consumers. At the trade fair, SMA showcased storage solutions with battery inverters for every application area and battery type. SMA’s employee Volker Wachenfeld provides an overview in this video:
Incidentally, SMA collaborates with the storage system manufacturer Tesvolt. Their new TS HV 70 high-voltage lithium storage system with an operating voltage of up to 1,000 V is optimized for use with three-phase SMA battery inverters. For more details, go here.
